What’s Going On Around Town Movers Blog at www.aroundtownmovers.com

On Saturday, November 9, 2013, Around Town Movers provided a truck and driver to assist Scout Pack 149 with ‘Scouting For Food’at the Safeway Store on Lee Highway in the Cherrydale neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. Scouting For Food is an annual community service project during which Cub Scouts distribute special grocery store bags with the goal of having homeowners fill each bag with cans and dry goods so they can be collected. The bags were distributed door-to-door last weekend and were picked up today. Scouting For Food is done in conjunction with AFAC – the Arlington Food Assistance Cooperative – the local food bank which serves the Arlington community.
Yes, it was I, yours truly, who drove the truck. Now, I haven’t driven a truck in quite some time so it was a lot of fun just from that perspective. Since our small 16’ ‘city van’ was in the shop, I was relegated to our truck #7, a 24′ box truck. It was a good thing too. Those Scouts collected an incredible amount of food and that small truck just might not have held it all.
All in all, it was a great day – a lovely Fall day – a good day when we all came together and did something to help out the food bank and those less fortunate – a chance to give back just a little bit of all of the goodness we have been given.
See Ya Around Town!
